Chainsaw Man has hit the ground running this fall anime season, with the first episodes taking us into the often tragic, often hilarious world of Denji and his fellow Devil Hunters. Ever since teaming up with his loyal dog Pochita and inheriting the devil’s chainsaw power, the Shonen protagonist finds himself under the watchful eye of Makima, the head of the Devil Hunter Division, who clearly has some secrets up his sleeve. Now, one fan has leaned into the ominous undertones of Denji’s “frenemy.”

For anime fans, many questions were left unanswered regarding Maki, her goals, and her true desires that led her to recruit the likes of the Chainsaw Devil, the Blood Devil, and the human monster hunter known as Aki. While fans who have read the manga know all about Makima’s ultimate plan, the main demon hunter was absent from the second chapter of the Chainsaw Manga, leaving fans wondering when she would appear after the shocking conclusion of Denji’s first full story. In the second part of the series, we were introduced to a new protagonist in Asa Mitaka, a high school student who made a pact with a war devil and has a serious grudge against Denji.
