The first season of the Chainsaw Man anime has ended, and while we wait to see if Studio MAPPA will return to the devil-filled world with a second season, Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga series continues. With Denji taking a backseat to the new female protagonist leading the charge in the game Asa Mitaka, aka War Devil, the latest manga hints at the high school girl using her power in a way we haven’t seen before.

For starters, we need to explore the War Devil powers in that Asa as a devil can create weapons from anything he touches. Unfortunately, the power of the weapon is determined by how the Mitaka is attached to the object, meaning the closer it is to the object or person, the more powerful the weapon itself will be. After a brief encounter with the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse, Famine, Asa is informed that she can escape her current predicament by turning Denji into a weapon.

Asa originally made a deal with the War Devil to get revenge on the Chainsaw Man and was trapped in an aquarium on a date for her revenge. Despite the power of the War Devil, Asa finds herself unable to pull the trigger on Denji’s elimination, which becomes especially problematic as she is trapped by the power of the Eternity Devil.

Asa figures out a way to use his war fiend powers, and convinces himself that if he sees value in the aquarium itself, he can turn it into a weapon:

“Have some confidence, Asa. It doesn’t matter how crazy the logic is. It’s a matter of my own perception. I’ll pay a million yen in this bag to buy this aquarium. Aquarium Spear.”

We’ll have to wait until the next chapter to see what the Aquarium Spear looks like on Earth, but given how wild Chainsaw Man has been in the past, the sky’s the limit.
