The future devil finally made his big reveal in the first season of his anime adaptation Chainsaw Man, and Aki tries to make a deal with this mysterious new creature. After the catastrophic events that follow Katana Man’s attack on the Devil Hunter, Aki is at a crossroads and with little time left in his life, he is on the run for suicide. Luckily for Aki, Denji, and Power, this episode also gave them some serious support.

Each fiend is actually a representation of humanity’s fear of a particular concept and/or object, with Chainsaw Man, for example, becoming as powerful as humanity’s fear of Chainsaws. While devils range from the hilarious like the Pickle Devil to the terrifying like the Bat and the Eternity Devils, Future Devil is a combination of both. Appearing as what can only be described as a creature that has the horns of an antelope, plant vines, and also a giant eye in its torso, the devil is currently in the possession of Makima’s organization and is more than willing to hear Aki’s request.

The future devil is more than willing to listen to Aki’s request for more power, with the swordsman clearly on the run to take down as many devils as possible, but asks Aki to stick his head in his chest. By pressing his dome into the future devil’s torso, the supernatural being is able to glimpse Denji’s future and finds himself so amused by how he dies that he asks little for Aki to lend his power.

The future devil takes up residence in Aki’s eye and allows him to see brief glimpses into the future, but this power does not make the swordsman invincible, as we can see in the finale of the last episode. Fortunately, while the Devil Hunters have suffered heavy losses in recent episodes, this new episode introduces some major new allies to Aki, Denji, and the Force as they are joined by Spider Devil, Shark Devil, Violent Devil, and Angel. The Devil to name a few.
