Chainsaw Man has been nothing if not exciting during its seven episode run from Studio MAPPA, but the latest installment will change the game forever and nothing will be the same for Denji and his friends. After defeating the devil Eternity and Denji getting his first grotesque kiss, a big curveball was thrown at Devil Hunter in what could be the biggest anime adaptation to date.
After the previous disastrous kiss, Denji made a deal with Himeno to help him secure Maki while the chainsaw devil helped her capture Aki. Unfortunately for the pair, things took a turn for the worse when a group of gunmen came after their crew, shot Maki in the back of the head, and killed a number of their allies in a similar fashion. However, unlike their friends, Denji, Aki, Power and Himeno faced a much more terrifying threat with the arrival of the devil Katana.
Much like Denji is both devil and man, so too is the devil Katana, who turns out to be a relative of the older Yakuza who has kept the Shonen protagonist under his thumb for so long. With the new villain making his way through Aki, the human Devil Hunter finding no success with either the Fox Devil or the Cursed Devil, Himeno made the ultimate sacrifice to save his crowd and surrendered his entire body to the spirit devil. .
Alongside the devil Katana is a mysterious girl who not only brought the bladed beast back to life, but apparently had tricks up her sleeve that could easily dispatch the spirit devil, making Himeno’s sacrifice moot. Needless to say, Chainsaw Man took things to a whole other level and not everyone made it out alive.
