Mystery Incorporated has been in the headlines a lot lately, thanks to fan feedback on HBO Max’s Velma. Scooby-Doo and the gang have received countless incarnations over the years, with many animated series involving the Mystery Machine seeing the gang team up with celebrities and superheroes. Now, Cartoon Network is sharing a unique crossover that sees Scooby and Shaggy alongside anime’s finest in Chainsaw Man’s Denji and Pochita, following their 2022 anime debut.
Chainsaw Man has yet to confirm whether a second season will be produced by Studio MAPPA, although the animation house has previously stated that it hoped to adapt all of Tatsuki Fujimoto’s manga works. With MAPPA working on franchises like Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Hell’s Paradise this year to name a few, it may be a while before we hear about a second season. It’s also a mystery whether Chainsaw Man will make it to Toonami and Adult Swim, though lately the Cartoon Network programming block seems to be leaning more towards original content as the price of licensed anime continues to rise. .
Cartoon Network’s Twitter account shared this adorable crossover by artist Smile G Horse, which pairs Shaggy and Scooby from Mystery Incorporated with Denji and Pochita from Makima’s hunting organization, who have seen some terrifying supernatural beings on their quest:
HBO Max’s Velma creates very different versions of the titular mystery solvers, Shaggy, Fred and Daphne. Scooby-Doo has yet to appear in the series, although the way they’ve been building the story makes it seem unlikely that we’ll see the talking dog make it to the new animated series. We doubt an official crossover between the Scooby Gang and Chainsaw Man will ever happen, though there have been wilder anime crossovers we’ve seen.
