Denji and Reze walk through an empty school at night. Reze comments that he is scared and asks to hold Denji’s hand. Denji agrees while internally apologizing to Makima.Reze sat in class and pretended to teach Denji simple nonsense facts like “1 + 1 = 2” and how to write the phrase “Big Ass” in English. Reze comments on Denji’s lack of education and questions whether his life as a devil hunter is really good for him. Denji replies that his job allows him three square meals and a bed, but Reze reminds him that these are the bare minimum acceptable living conditions. Noticing Denji’s growing concern, Reze suggested they go for a swim.At the outdoor pool, Reze strips naked. Denji admits that he can’t swim, but immediately strips down as well, despite internal fears that he will be loyal to Makima. Although filled with uncertainty, Denji eventually jumps in when Reze starts showing him how to swim. Eventually it starts to rain and they both go back inside. As they sit inside watching the rain, Reze asks Denji if he would rather be “City Mouse” or “Country Mouse”.Meanwhile, Aki and Angel Devil are having the same conversation. Angel explains that the country mouse lives a safer but less fulfilling life, while the city mouse lives a more dangerous but more enjoyable life. Angel explains that he would rather be a country mouse, but Makima brought him to the city and forced him to become a city mouse. At the same time, Denji decides that he would rather be a City Mouse, as his only true desires are food and fun, regardless of danger. Reze invites him to a food festival the next day before he goes to the bathroom. After she leaves, Denji quietly tells her “So Freakin’ Cute” under his breath. As she walks down the hall alone, Reze is accosted by a scarred man with a knife. At the same time, Denji begins to panic as he realizes that he now sees Rez standing next to Makima as he closes his eyes.
