Denji notices a charity stand and donates money as a sign of his newfound “heart”, receiving a flower as a thank you. He happily leaves, eating the flower, to the bewilderment of the charity girl.As he walks, Denji thinks about Maki and how her words were able to calm his pent-up fears. He makes sure to use the wish she promised him to ask her out, thinking she’ll be the only girl he’ll ever be romantically interested in. Suddenly it starts raining and Denji runs for cover.Denji hides in a phone booth and tries to weather the storm. Suddenly a young woman enters, surprising him. She apologizes and starts laughing, much to his confusion. Gradually her laughter turns to tears before she says that his face reminds her of her deceased dog. Denji suddenly chokes and pulls the flower from his throat and presents it to the girl with a flourish. She thanks him and smiles, stunning him. When the rain stops, she invites him to visit her workplace: the Futamichi Cafe.A girl walks through several aisles to work. As she puts on her apron, she sees that Denji is already waiting for her at the table. The girl sits next to him and orders two coffees for them, which Denji drinks with a disgusted grimace. She laughs and flirtatiously touches his shoulder as a confused Denji wonders if she likes him.The girl introduces herself as Reze and Denji answers on his behalf. Denji worries about Maki as he realizes his feelings for Reza are growing.
