Panicked, Sawatari orders Katana Man to move Denji before Makima can intervene further. As he does so, he suddenly sees a figure approaching them: Kobeni, clutching a knife.A flashback shows that while Arai was on duty, he was shot by an older Gun-Agent. In his final moments, he threw himself in front of Kobeni, protecting her from being killed.Kobeni asks Sawatari and Katana Man if they are Gun-Agents. Nervous, Sawatari summons the Serpent Devil’s tail to attack her. She quickly dodges him before running along his body towards the pair. Before Katana Man can fire at her, she deftly cuts off his arm, grabs the gun, and shoots him in the back. He then turns his target on Sawatari. Sawatari fires at her, but she uses Denji’s powered-up chainsaw to deflect the bullet.Sawatari grabs Katana Man and pulls him into their car and drives away. Kobeni looks at Denji’s unconscious torso and apologizes for trying to kill him in the past. She slowly begins to laugh, slowly becoming hysterical as she remembers Arai’s dead body before deciding that she plans to tell Himeno that she’s quitting.Arriving in Tokyo, Maki is greeted by Madoka. He informs her that almost every human agent in Divisions 1-4 has been killed. He states that orders from the top of the organization are for all divisions to be merged and placed under Makima’s control. This news makes her smile quietly. Madoka leaves on the spot in anticipation of the coming conflict. As he leaves, he asks Makima how much she expected from the events, but she only replies that she is unable to share secret details with a civilian.
