As Kobeni’s brother watches them, Asa explains that most of the starfish in the aquarium are not edible and asks Denji if he is serious about this idea. Denji points out that it’s the only option since he can’t eat fish, to which he acquiesces. However, Asa notes that raw starfish are toxic and must be cooked. Denji leads her back to the common room and shows her the pot he found, and since he fumbled for Kobeni’s brother’s lighter, they now have a source of heat to cook them.As they sit down to eat, Asa notices a lot of school caps lying around, to which Denji reveals that he planned to sell them. Asa questions why he seems so obsessed with money, which causes Denji to reveal that he’s been saving money to afford college tuition for “some friend, some kind of sister” who lives with him, explaining that because he’s never he didn’t have a normal life, he wanted her to grow out of it. Asa seems moved by his words and they both start eating the starfish. Denji is repulsed by the taste, but Asa milks it, saying it’s not enough to satisfy her hunger. She then notices the fish that Denji has preserved in salt and asks if she can try one, much to his confusion. Asa immediately gags, causing Denji to burst out laughing, saying that even though what she’s saying bores him, she’s fun.Inspired, she asks him to confirm what he said, to which Denji comments that her newfound bravery reminds him of an old friend. Looking at the hats, Asa looks for a way out of the aquarium; by getting as much money as they can find. By walking through the hall, they manage to earn a total of one million yen. Asa asks Denji to hand her over, which he initially refuses, but relents when he offers him anything he wants in exchange. Remembering what Yoru said about how her powers work and what counts as “owning” something, Asa uses a million yen to “buy” an aquarium so she can turn it into a spear.
